About Corry ADE

It was April 1st, 1982, when it was announced that Merle E. Swift was the new owner

of, what is now, Corry Auto Dealers Exchange and that was no "April Fools" joke.  Merle

was the new owner of a wholesale auto auction founded, in Corry Pa., in 1946.  It was a

quaint, three lane sale, approximately, 25 miles southeast of Erie.

Merle, along with his father F. Layton Swift, already owned two new car dealerships.

The auction location was right in-between both stores.  The addition of the auction to their

portfolio seemed like the perfect fit.

Acting quickly, Merle was able to obtain an AMC Factory sale, in Corry.  This allowed

him to grow the business, for many years, until Chrysler acquired AMC.  However, this

would not deter him from making a success of the Corry auction.

In February of 1989, Merle's youngest son, Tim,  joined the auction as General Manager.

A graduate of Northwood Institute (Now Northwood University), Tim had served as

General Manager of the family's Dodge Dealership (Mackay-Swift Inc.)  that Merle's father

had started in 1949.  Having grown up in the car business, Tim was able to work with area car

dealers and continue to move the auction forward.  He also worked with national fleet and lease

accounts to establish Corry Auto Dealers Exchange as the leading, commercial fleet, outlet in

Northwestern Pennsylvania.

In 2004, Corry Auto Dealers Exchange proudly opened its, newly remodeled, facility boasting four

"brand new" lanes, full cafeteria, expanded reconditioning facility and an ""on -site" Penn DOT title

office.  This expansion took the facility from 15,000 square feet to 30,000 square feet.  With few

details left to change, the auction now has increased office to accommodate its, ever increasing staff.

Half price auction fees were brought forth in 2006.  This ongoing program allows any dealer that

has done business, that day, to be eligible for an end-of-sale drawing giving them "half price auction

fees" the following week (one winner per week).  This allowed us to become "The Home of Half

Price Auction Fees!"

Many changes occurred in 2007. The first was the installation of the ASI Auction program which

converted us to a paperless block system, along with many other features to improve the auction

process. Next was an upgrade to this web site allowing us to also intregate "Live Global Bid",

for Internet purchasing and "Auction Access" to allow for a more steamlined registration process.
